Another planted story printed by the ABC on the theme being promoted by Big Pharma, that medical cannabis is not getting acceptance because Doctor's will not prescribe it. They will not prescribe it because they first have to do a course on medical cannabis, then fill in hours and hours of paperwork for each patient - a process that repeats every 6 months. For this they do not get paid. All they get out of this whole process is 1 standard consultation, about $40.
The Greens have tabled their long promised bill to legalise recreational cannabis. The bill and notes appear below. RESET! are not a fan so let me take you through this. The basic idea is to create a Cannabis Agency to regulate recreational cannabis, with 6 plants or less allowed for personal use. The bill specifically excludes any changes to our restrictive medical cannabis laws, but does offer some sort of an end-run around them by making it easier to buy legal cannabis from registered distributors, and to grow it yourself where you have that expertise.
We are seeing the emergence of a new technique in the pharmaceutical industry war against legal medical cannabis. Its called "lie, stall and obfuscate". Last month we saw the University of NSW commit academic fraud with their study that I dealt with in this article.
Now it is the turn of Channel 10 to line up for a pat on the head and 30 pieces of silver from the pharmaceutical industry. Channel 10 journalist-for-hire Georgia Clark wrote up a new study from the Sydney Medical School that made up conclusions that were simply not in the report but which advanced the lie, stall and obfuscate agenda.
It is true that a lie can travel around the world while the truth is putting on it's boots. This is one such case. In early July 2018 the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at the University of New South Wales published what they called a landmark study that showed medical cannabis to have no benefit in the treatment of chronic pain. The problem was it was all a lie.
Senator Malcolm Roberts from PHON kindly accepted 20 questions from RESET! and asked these today in Senate Estimates hearings. The purpose of these questions was to call attention to the abject failure of the Government's Approved Prescriber Scheme, the terrible uptake of medical cannabis and the failure of medical and mental health services to include medical cannabis in their forward planning.
The complete list of questions and a video of proceedings will appear in the next article once the hearings are completed, we still have more to go tonight.
So what have we learned so far? This is the take home:
Medicinal cannabis products 'sitting in warehouses', Senate committee told amid concerns about access
Fewer than 150 people in Australia have ever been given approved access to medicinal cannabis products and there are only 25 authorised prescribers of the drugs, according to evidence at a Senate estimates committee.
Officials from the Health Department told the hearing that figure had only increased by two since February, and most of those doctors were in New South Wales.
On Monday the 4th September 2017 OzHemp.Rocks presented our RESET! proposal to the Australian Health Minister, Greg Hunt. The Minister was kind enough to give us a full half hour of his time to review RESET!,and we are awaiting a response. I am impressed with the Minister's grasp of the subject and quite honestly impressed with the man as well. So let's see how this goes. One Nation have been doing the running inside Parliament House, so a big thank you to Senator Roberts for his help, and the ongoing lobbying he is doing on our behalf. There can be no disputing the commitment of One Nation to making medical cannabis available by doctor's prescription.
It's time for home grown healthcare!
The Nimbin Hemp Embassy will be protesting outside Parliament House, Canberra on Monday the 5th February, 2018.This is the first day of the new Parliamentary session.
Sadly The Reset Campaign will not be able to attendas I am recovering from an operation and can't travel.
However, if you can get to Canberra, we do need to make our voices heard.
More information shortly.
The HHIA Expo was a great success despite some inclement weather and an overly cautious Weather Bureau SMS alert scaring people away. More and more people are heeding the call of the plant!
I talked to some amazing people and as a result of the feedback I have made some changes to the messaging on the site.
RESET! Campaign wil be exhibiting again in the Sydney HHIA in May, 2018. See you there!
Thursday October 19th, 2017.
In a major win for medical cannabis Senator DiNatale has introduced a private members bill to force the bureaucrats to allow the supply of medical cannabis to persons qualifying under Schedule A of the Special Access Scheme.
This allows patients who are in palliative care, or who may die without the medication, to access medical cannabis. Realistically this should allow a few hundred more people to access medical cannabis, but it is an important few hundred - those who would die without it.
Good on Senator DiNatale. We also heard very strong endorsement of medical cannabis from the cross bench, especially from Senators Hinch and Hanson, who called cannabis a "miracle plant".
One Nation and especially Senator Malcolm Roberts have been really helpful in moving RESET! forward. Their commitment to Australian grown medical cannabis is beyond question. Except some elements within the community are questioning their commitment and I find this really annoying. Why would we deliberately piss off one of the two parties (along with the Greens) that are actually trying to get us access to medical cannabis just because you do not agree with their politics? There should be no room for politics in this campaign - what matters is the plant not bloody politics!!!!!
UPDATE: Lateline have done a follow up story on the failure of the Green's Motion to Disallow that everyone thought would make medical cannabis available to the terminally ill. Everyone except the Bill Turner at the Office of Drug Control apparently, who has advised importers to ignore the law of the land and do what they want instead.Story at the bottom.
UPDATE2: Turnbull is no longer PM but the influence of Big Pharma persists. Our nightwatchman Prime Minister has no intention of listening to the people any more than Malcolm Turnbull did. Australia is not a democracy, it is a corporate autocracy.
In 2016 the Turnbull Government announced to the Australian people that medical cannabis had been legalised, with the legislation passing through parliament that year.
Drug Policy Australia: The Cannabis Australia is allowing to be imported for the first time includes GMO Cannabis. GMO or Genetically Modified Organism Cannabis has been around since 2011 due to breakthroughs in research and Biotechnology by Ethan Russo and GW UK helping in the process. In 2014 even newer GMO Cannabis strains has been introduced.
In early April 2016 as we speak, an Australian delegation is traveling to Asia to look at GMO Cannabis with no THC, and in mid-2016 brings the who’s who of the GMO Biotech Cannabis community to NSW for a conference. There is a real danger that GMO will take over as the dominant medical Cannabis seed stock.
Medicinal cannabis company Cann Group will start cultivating its first plants within days after receiving permits for Australia’s first commercial cannabis crop.
The Melbourne-based company (CAN) has been issued with one medicinal cannabis permit and two cannabis research permits from the Office of Drug Control.
Cann said its first plants are expected to be harvested by early August.
